Pat Robertson sees the light

...the scorching blazing sunlight of America's recent heatwave. He's been converted and now says he believes in global warming:

"We really need to address the burning of fossil fuels," Robertson said on his "700 Club" broadcast. "It is getting hotter, and the icecaps are melting and there is a buildup of carbon dioxide in the air."

Hallelujah! Whether it is sincere or just cynically reading the vibes among mainstream American evangelicals and giving up the fight against environmental reform it is a positive sign that things are more likely to move soon in that area.

Of course my overly cynical pet theory is that at 76 years of age Robertson realizes that he's in the bracket of people most likely to die during a heatwave and so it's time to give up the charade when it comes to global warming. :)
