Out Foxed: Rupert Murdoch's war on Journalism

Speaking of documentaries the next one to come storming through the country will likely be Out Foxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism and having seen the trailer and a number of interview snapshots, I have no doubt this will be big.

For starters, it will include interviews with the following ex-Fox employees:

Jon Du Pre
Former Fox News Anchor
"...Mr Lecord in that first staff meeting [told us] that we were not necessarily there... to serve the viewers, we were there to serve headquarters...when headquarters called every morning or sent a memo every morning and said 'We want to touch on the following issues, we want to cover the following stories, we want to do them in this particular way', our job and our objective then was to execute the plan..."

Frank O'Donnell
Former Fox News producer
"...we received orders, for example, to attack Ted Kennedy, who was a long time opponent of Rupert Murdoch...we started not only changing the style of the news to a more sensational kind of approach but also interjecting this kind of right-wing anti-Democratic pro-Republican propaganda..."

Clara Frenk
Former Fox News Producer

Alexander Kippen
Former Fox News Producer
"...there is a sense now that there is money in the flag, and Fox knows that and its competitors know that Fox is on to something..."

It's been co-produced by this kid but appears to be receiving support with advertising etc. from MoveOn.org a Democratic Party support campaign. Now Media Watch has taken a look at a series of Doonesbury cartoons that draw attention to the OutFoxed documentary. This is of particular interest because Murdoch's own The Age's cartoon segment is due to run the Doonesbury cartoons this Thursday. It will be interesting to see how "Fair and Balanced" Murdoch is about such criticism.
