Indie music to change the world
There's some really interesting work being produced very cheaply thanks to the internet now. One artist, Lazyboy, uses a website with videos, links, Flash games and other entertaining tidbits to promote his album (and give free samples) which is being sold through iTunes. iTunes is Apple's online MP3 music store. He has zero advertising costs and very low distribution costs and seems to be doing quite well (#2 in the iTunes charts).
To listen, click the link, enter the site, click the TV and click #1.
What's interesting is that his music can be quite radical, advocating legalisation of marijuana and (unlike the chic kind of radicalism) even commenting on attitudes to the homeless, because he is not dependent on anyone for production or distribution.
This is a link to a post on a christian blog I read which is discussing this link to Lazyboy's website.

JustEnoughTV for real music from real musicians. I completely understand your pain. These days the major record labels and their preferred producers are producing carbon copy music with no substance. That is why we started a online TV channel called JustEnough TV. We feature all indie artists and their music videos. Thats right, artists who produce their own music and build their career based apon musical merit. And the results have been amazing. Consequetively for the last 4 months we have had month to month growth at JustEnoughTV of 160%. To benefit the artist even more, we secured a contract which allows us to place indie music videos on MSN Video. MSN Video has 9.3 million monthly viewers. See the 'Indie' channel under the 'Music' category. There is a huge growing movement of Indie labels and artist. It is an exciting time, and it is time for the revival of real music.
