Pentagon Whitewash

I'd heard this before, but it's nice to have the pictures and references (requires Flash) to go with it.

There's evidence to suggest that the 11/9 plane that was headed for the Pentagon went down long before it got there and what actually hit the Pentagon was a missile. It seems in at least one case they had the defenses to shoot down a hijacked plane. But then they felt it necessary to lie about it by firing a missile at the Pentagon and claiming they'd never fired on the plane.

What's disturbing is not that they might have shot down a domestic passenger jet, it's not a nice decision but is completely understandable. What is disturbing is that they might lie about it, cover it up, and have supressed all video footage from the area and done so so quickly and efficiently that they were obviously prepared for the need to cover something up. What's even more disturbing is that the press either bought it or agreed to go along with it. Surely with something as huge as 11/9 it's important to have a full and frank discussion of exactly what happened instead of the same images repeated a thousand times. Yet the best I saw was a crumb tossed towards this ideal when one documentary was produced blaming the builders of the towers for not making them jumbo-jet-proof.

I don't like conspiracy theories because they distract attention from the bare-faced and undisguised injustices in the world but I also don't like finding these important questions only being asked by the lunatic fringe.
