Iraq: justification (or lack thereof)

An obvious point very well made.

Also a detailed and long, but thorough analysis of the backfiring of the invasion (written up in Sept '03).

Since the first article there has been one much vaunted case of WMD's. A single small "sarin"-bearing shell which failed to properly detonate has been found, causing brief health concerns for two soldiers. Still, hardly a weapon of "mass" destruction. There are also suspicions that the shell had been aquired by 'insurgents' prior to the invasion raising the whole question of how completely Saddam was even capable of accounting for the US-provided WMD's.
